Homemaker Services
One of our newest programs, Homemaker Services opened in March 2011. Working with referrals from the Erie County Office of Children and Youth (OCY), this program is designed to promote, educate, and assist individuals and families understand what makes a healthy and safe home environment. After an initial on-site assessment, staff work with the family to set and achieve personal goals in the areas of infection control, fire safety, proper food storage, child safety in the home, clutter-free organization, and general cleaning and housekeeping skills. Once the home has received intense cleaning and safeguarding, staff continue to work with the family on maintaining a safe, healthy home until the family fully understands why it's important and how to maintain this environment for their family. Although still in its beginning stages, this program has already received highly positive feedback from the OCY staff.
