About Options

The Options program offers participants and their family meaningful activities and essential support. Most people do not realize the financial, physical, and emotional stress that can accompany caring for an individual with disabilities in the home, no matter the level of disability. The goal of Options is to support families who care for family members at home by offering meaningful activities and social opportunities. The program also assists persons with disabilities who are capable of living independently when provided with appropriate support. Whether individuals live on their own or with their families, they still need assistance in managing their daily activities.

EHCA staff members work one-on-one with participants to help them learn everyday skills like money management, laundry, using a telephone, or riding the bus. Individual goals might include making healthy food choices, volunteering in the community, finding employment, enjoying a hobby, or participating in recreational activities. Confidence grows as clients make decisions and socialize with peers.

SNAP

One of Options’ most popular support choices is SNAP (Social Networking Among Peers). This program enables small groups of two to three individuals to schedule their own activities, enjoy local events, or volunteer together in the community. The goal of SNAP is to create opportunities for making friends and sharing new experiences.

Supported Employment

Supported Employment is a program that helps individuals with disabilities obtain and sustain paid employment by offering the support and training needed to succeed. Participants learn job search strategies and receive training for specific job assignments. Periodic follow-up and ongoing support are also provided.
