Residential Services

About Residential

Erie Homes for Children and Adults (EHCA) offers a residential program that provides quality homes with caring staff, enriching activities, and community participation.

EHCA’s system of community residences provides each individual with a true home where he/she is surrounded by a trained, compassionate staff to ensure the utmost quality of care. EHCA believes that all those who live in agency homes are first and foremost persons with their own rights, feelings, needs, capabilities, and dignity.

Each home is staffed 24 hours a day by direct support professionals and supervisory staff who work closely with residents and their families to coordinate necessary services. In addition to continuous nursing availability, group home residents have access to physical and speech therapists, a nutritionist, a psychiatrist, a behavior specialist, and other professionals, as needed.

EHCA is home to more than 100 individuals living in 21 community residences in Erie and Crawford counties. Many homes offer 24-hour nursing care and are equipped to support the needs of residents with complex medical conditions. The agency’s strategic plan envisions opening additional community homes to provide care for individuals with disabilities who are currently on the Commonwealth’s waiting list for services.

Adaptive and therapeutic equipment, smart technology, and sensory devices are used to enrich residents’ experiences. Staff members work to create structured activities and learning opportunities that build on each person’s interests and abilities.
